Aircraft Hangar Door Manufacturer Spec-Dor Relocates$1 million investment and around 10 new jobs createdSpec-Dor, a manufacturer of aircraft hangar doors, is relocating to the Industrial Park in Saint-Jean-Sur-Richelieu in Quebec. A new building is being constructed on Saint-Louis Street to house the hangar door assembly plant. This investment of more than $1 million will create around 10 new jobs which will be added to the existing workforce. Danielle Desrosiers and Alexander Timoschuck, president of Spec-Dor While the manufacturing sector in general continues to suffer the ups and downs of the economic crisis, Spec-Dor bucks the trend and invests more than $1 million to expand into new premises located in the industrial park in Saint Jean. Spec-Dor is currently located in Ville Sainte-Catherine. However, the idea of building a factory that he would own himself, convinced Alexander Timoschuck, president of the family company, to make the move after his lease expired. Why did he choose the Saint-Jean-sur-Richelieu industrial park? First and foremost, because of the availability of industrial land thanks to the efforts of the City, which aims to make the sector an attractive place for investment. It was bright sunshine that heralded the official groundbreaking of the project on Monday 29th November. "We are very pleased to welcome Spec-Dor to Saint-Jean-sur-Richelieu and is very good news for the region," said Mayor Gilles Dolbec, present at the launch. Covering an area of 12,000 square feet, the pre-fabricated building that will house the assembly plant has already been delivered near the site, while the administrative offices of 3,000 square feet will be constructed soon. If all goes as planned, the plant should be commissioned in late January. Through this investment of more than one million dollars, Spec-Dor will improve its productivity, which will need to hire around 10 new employees to add to the existing team. The staff will leave the current premises once the new plant is in operation. Specializing in the manufacture of aircraft hangar doors, Spec-Dor began in 1972. For nearly four decades, the company has provided a complete technology and service infrastructure capable of meeting the rapidly growing needs of its customers and distributors. Some of Spec-Dor’s recent contracts include Premier Aviation, Trois-Rivieres and Collège Édouard-Montpetit École nationale d’aérotechnique which is the largest college-level aeronautical educational institute in Canada. Last year, exports accounted for 42% of the turnover of Spec-Dor, including a number of clients in several Middle Eastern countries.
